MARINE AQUARIUM IS 10 YEARS OLD!
We
well and truly celebrated our 10th anniversary in
April and enjoyed a big birthday party here at the
aquarium. We had party
games, balloon animals, face painting and fun quizzes
at the aquarium throughout the day. Even the fish
got some birthday cake! Best of all, we had a massive
conger dance around the aquarium and loads of people
took part in the fun..
We had a more
sedate celebration of our anniversary in conjunction
with the RSPB at the end of April, when the new Troup
Head camera exhibit and the RSPB
Troup Head reserve were formally launched. It
was a lovely day and guests enjoyed guided walks or
boat trips to Troup Head, followed by a glass of wine
and some food at the aquarium. We were lucky enough
to have a talk by Mr Bryan Nelson - a world authority
on gannets - and a young Macduff Primary School pupil
read out a poem she'd written about life in a sea
bird city. A good time was had by all. We are now
keeping a beedy eye on the gannets at Troup and are
expecting the first gannet chicks to hatch at the
beginning of June - watch this space!
