Spring Rover Ticket is Launched!
New joint ticket offers free entry to top North East visitor attractions
Macduff Marine Aquarium has joined forces with eight of the North East’s top visitor attractions to offer outstanding value with the ‘Spring Rover’ ticket, launched on 16th April.
Between April 16th and June 30th 2018, one thousand lucky visitors paying at each of the attractions will be offered a ticket which enables them to visit their choice of three more attractions free of charge.
The new ticket was the brainchild of Mike Ward, Curator of Grampian Transport Museum at Alford “All regional attractions are busiest at school holiday times, but in the periods in-between we have capacity to try new things. Talking to some colleagues in the area we agreed to work together to trial a new off-peak ticket, the ‘Spring Rover’. This would incentivise visitors to stay longer in the area, with consequent increased spend, and local people to experience some of the outstanding attractions in the North East which they may not have seen before. They then become enthusiastic ambassadors for all of us, which is a win-win situation”

Lynda McGuigan, Manager of Kinnaird Head Castle and Lighthouse and the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, sees other benefits of the ticket pilot “The project also gives the group the opportunity to record useful marketing information about the choices made by visitors e.g. what sort of visits they make? How far do they travel around the region? How long do they stay? etc. This will be of huge benefit when planning for the future.”
Visit Aberdeenshire believes that this is the first time so many of the top attractions have worked together this way “These ideas are often discussed but require a special level of commitment to get off the ground” commented Chief Executive Chris Foy “Here nine of our top regional attractions have all committed their resources to an initiative to help the whole area. At the end of last season a limited trial by six of them saw tickets go in no time, so we are sure there is a pent-up demand. The marketing information gathered from the Spring Rover will be fascinating to see”
