WORLD
OCEANS' DAY - SUNDAY 8TH JUNE 2008
This year
on World Oceans' Day Vikings were roaming the aquarium
plundering locals and visitors alike!
In addition
to the usual exhibits, talks and feed shows, we had
viking-themed activities inside and outside the aquarium
throughout the day. Younger visitors were making their
own Viking shields and longboats which they were able
to race for prizes! Inside a Viking rune stone trail
and quiz kept the older children busy. The dance troup
Phoenix and the Shimmies also provided some great Viking
themed displays using swords and flaming torches!
As
usual, though, World Oceans' Day had a serious message
about our seas and we had guests from the RSPB, SCARF
and the Aberdeenshire Council Waste Aware Bus along
on the day too. Our friends at Deveron
FM provided entertainment and there was face painting,
a bouncy slide, refreshments provided by Downies of
Whitehills and all the usual fun, games and prizes.
What's more,
each visitor on the day had the chance to win an adventure
on the high seas with North
58 Sea Adventures.
The day was
enjoyed by all who came - and we're looking forward
to doing it all over again next year!
