A FEEL FOR SEASHORE LIFE - THE TOUCH POOLS GET A MAKEOVER!
The touch pools are many visitors' favourite part of the Aquarium and, after 10 years of use, they have had a major overhaul for 2007. We have replaced the old tanks with lifelike rock pools in a series of heights, so that smaller visitors can easily reach the seashore exhibits. There is also a new nursery tank for the baby dogfish.
The aquarist team have built the tanks themselves – and seriously put their creative skills to the test! We are very excited to see the new development to this part of the aquarium – which has such an important educational element – and our visitors seem very enthusiastic about the changes.
WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS...
Yet again, Talisman Energy (UK) Limited has pledged to help us at Macduff Marine Aquarium with a generous donation for 2007. Their support has enabled us to redevelop the touch pools and make improvements to the schools outreach programmes that they sponsored in 2006. We will also be able to offer half-price bus travel to schools visiting the aquarium later on this year – we will tell you more about that in the summer.
A big thank you must also go to our friends at Artech who have subsidised our website again this year.
