MACDUFF
MARINE AQUARIUM NETS TOURISM AWARDS!!
All of us here at the aquarium were delighted when
the aquarium was nominated in two categories of VisitScotland's
Northern Lights Tourism Awards this November. The
annual awards celebrate excellence in tourism throughout
this corner of Scotland and acknowledge the hard work
and effort put in by businesses, communities and individuals
to improve the quality and standard of the tourism
product of this area.
Macuff Marine Aquarium was
short-listed in the Visitor Experience category and,
along with RSPB Scotland in the innovation category
for our RSPB Troup Head Live-Camera Link project -
and we scooped both prizes!

Our
manager, Witek Mojsiewicz, said "After 10 years
of operation, this is the first time we've won an
award, and to have netted two is just fantastic. We're
delighted to have been so successful, especially to
have been awarded best Visitor Experience, since it
is the visitors themselves who put forwards nominations
via the Tourist Information Centres. We have also
been thrilled to work with the RSPB on the Troup Head
Live-Camera link project – not only is it great to
be linked with the international charity, but to be
able to showcase Troup Head's amazing seabird colony
at the aquarium has added much value to our visitors'
experience. We're looking forward to strengthening
our links with the RSPB in the coming years."
Joanna McFarlane
of RSPB Scotland also expressed her delight in winning
the award and put the project's success down to the
effective partnership between the RSPB staff, the
aquarium and the local boat tour operators. She gave
special thanks to Peter
Mackay who installed the camera link. |

Our
Education Officer, Claire Matthews and Jo McFarlane
from RSPB Scotland show off the awards in front
of the gannet display.
