World Oceans Day Fish Tale Competition and Story time! 8th June 2pm
World Oceans Day is coming up and to celebrate we would like to invite you to write us a fish tale! Closing date for the competition is Wednesday 3rd June at noon and the winner from each category will be read out in our World Oceans Day Story Time session at 2pm on Monday 8th June.
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to live below the waves? Ever fancied taking a crab's eye view of life in the tide pools? Or perhaps it’s a pirate’s life for you- with tales of shipwrecks, buried treasure and sirens… Or maybe, you would like to share a story about how important it is for people to protect the marine environment?
Whatever captures your imagination, we want you to share your stories with us.
Let your thoughts and words paint us any picture you like as long as it has to do with the sea!
Your fish tale should be a short story of no more than 1,000 words, with a marine theme and written for children of any age. It can be illustrated in any way you see fit, or not at all.
There will be 4 categories for entry - under 8s, under 12s, under 16s and under 100s.
We will choose our favourites from each category and these will be read during a special story time session on World Oceans Day, 8th June at 2pm.
In addition to having your story read, we will also award the winner from each category a family pass to the aquarium (for when we reopen) and an exclusive Macduff Marine Aquarium branded Thornback Ray soft toy!
Please email submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Be sure to include your name, age or category of entry and where you are writing us from.
Date for last entry will be Wednesday 3rd June at 12pm.
For World Oceans Day 2020 there is a global movement to protect 30% of our oceans by 2030.
