Dive In Deeper- The Muddy Seafloor
In deeper parts of the Moray Firth, the seabed is blanketed in fine, soft mud, and is home to some beautiful creatures found in no other habitat.
There is no sunlight in the habitat so all the creatures have to rely on food sinking down from above or eat each other. The absence of sunlight however does not mean this is a totally dark habitat. Many of the creatures that live here have developed ways of making their own light and have bioluminescence or bioflorescence- these creatures glow in the dark under the right conditions.
