Oceans of Value Film Screening and Workshop (Online) 12th December 6 - 7:30 pm

Oceans of Value Film Screening and Workshop (Online) 12th December 6 - 7:30 pm

We are pleased to partner with Scottish Wildlife Trust Living Seas to present a special online screening of this film followed by a workshop which will feed your views back to help with the development of Marine Policy.

Join the Scottish Wildlife Trust, East Grampian Coastal Partnership and Macduff Marine Aquarium in watching the Oceans of Value film, capturing the values that Orkney communities place on their local marine environment.

Then have your say on the key ocean issues facing the Solway Firth – feedback from these informal sessions will be shared with Scotland’s new National Marine Plan 2 (NMP2) team. NMP2 is an important policy framework which will outline how Scotland's seas will be protected and managed going forward.

From local to national scales, let's amplify and unite diverse community voices to raise awareness of the value and importance of community engagement in protecting Scotland's seas! Join us in watching the Oceans of Value film, capturing the values that Orkney communities place on their local marine environment.

About the film:

To capture the different values members of Orkney’s community place on the marine environment, we set out to interview a range of local people using a process known as the Community Voice Method. Some of the topics explored in the film include Orcadian traditions and dialect related to the sea, how people use the marine environment, the key issues facing the marine environment and how they would like to see it managed in the future.
