Beach Clean- Tarlair September 23rd 10am

Beach Clean- Tarlair September 23rd 10am

Join us and the East Grampian Coastal Partnership (EGCP) Turning the Plastic Tide for a Great British Beach Clean event!

Join in the fight against plastic pollution and do your bit to help the marine environment by tackling marine litter.

This event is part of the Great British Beach Clean, a week long citizen science event where hundreds of beach cleans take place all over the UK. Data is collected on the types and quantities of rubbish found along our beaches to form an annual report on beach litter. This information helps up to understand how beach litter is changing over time and allows targeted approaches in tracking the sources of the litter to prevent them from entering the environment.

Meet at the dead-end carpark on Tarlair Rd Macduff AB44 1AE. https://maps.app.goo.gl/47Qh6k... for 10 am.

Dress for the weather with sturdy shoes for the rocky beach. Gloves, litter pickers and bags will be provided.

If we have enough volunteers we may split into two groups and go along High Shore beach as well.

The EGCP Turning the Plastic Tide project has removed more than 110 tonnes of litter from our coastline since 2018 with 38 tonnes of litter taken from beaches last year alone. Plastic pollution continues to be a global problem with far reaching implications. We can all help reduce these impacts by removing plastic litter before it is broken up into microplastics. These tiny plastic fragments are much harder to clean up and are entering our food chain with consequences for our health. We need to act now to stop plastic pollution so come join in.

The Tarlair Lido café will be open for fly cup after!
