Update for Level 0
As national Coronavirus restrictions are easing, not only are we now able to welcome more visitors to the aquarium each day, the popular touch pools are open again for close encounters of the starfish kind!
As Scotland moves into Covid-protection level 0, we're delighted to be able to increase the number of visitors we can welcome at the aquarium each day. Numbers are still limited to allow safe distancing within the exhibit spaces, so visitors are still asked to book a time slot before arriving. All of our other Covid-safety measures remain in place however to keep everyone safe meantime.
Since reopening in April, we have been asking visitors to remain socially distant from our starfish and touch pool animals due to the hand sanitiser which can contaminate the water and potentially be harmful for the animals - but the touch pools have now fully opened again.
A brand-new hand washing station has been installed so that visitors can now wash their hand sanitiser off before gently interacting with the touch pool animals and then sanitise their hands again after. We're delighted that people can get up close with seashore life again and look forward to further easing of distancing restrictions that will eventually enable our Marine Masters to start up the feed shows and touch pool presentations which remain suspended for now... we'll get there!
